Lions and dragons

"So, I suppose the rumors about Tyrion having a spiked tail and horns like an aurochs are just old maid’s tales?  That’s a damned shame- from the way people talk, you’d think there was a grumpkin or one of the Others in House Lannister."

"No, he has no tail or horns. He’s not particularly beautiful to look at, but he’s nothing like the fool’s tales that seem to spread. Anyone who pays mind to an old maid’s tale is lacking in wits. They like to believe the world is more magical than it is."

brandon-wildwolf:

Yes but a good half doesn’t want some inbred pretty boy as a king. If I may be so bold to say, you may be a lady, but you are not my queen, so I won’t be calling you Your Grace, if you don’t mind. Perhaps, but my marriage is purely for alliances, not for a crown.

image

The realm is divided, yes. I’m still under the impression a kind albeit inbred man is better than a drunk. I am still a lady and a proper lord doesn’t speak so crassly to a lady. Still political. And I did not arrange my marriage, but I am loyal to my husband all the same.

brandon-wildwolf:

You’re a smart one aren’t you? Yet, the people of the North want the Starks, the South want the Tyrells. There’s precious few who want the Targaryens, apart from you Lannisters and Tyrells. But you lot just like bedding any man with a claim to the throne.

image

I’ve been told as much once or twice. I learned a thing or two from my father. Yes, and as you put it, that makes a good half of the realm that wants Rhaegar as their king. That is no way to talk to a lady let alone a queen. Your marriage is no less political than mine.

"Robert is a damned feel, and Renly is more needy than I would care for, but, now that I think about it, I suppose I don’t have the worst brothers in Westeros if what I hear about Tyrion is true…"

"Not everyone can be the smart sibling. Renly is but a baby. Hopefully that is a trait he grows out of. Tyrion is a dwarf, yes, but he is rather sharp and not all that needy for a child."

asharaofdayne:

Yes, a fact I am immensely grateful for. Gods be good, we’ll stay that way.

It must be quite nice. Everyone here has been preparing for war and it’s all rather gloomy. Some things must be done though.

Mother always use to tell how important embroidery is for a Lady to learn. It may be tedious at times, but it’s is how I like to remember her.”

image

My mother did try to tell me the same, but her lessons on manners are what stuck more. I like to remember when she would read stories to my brother and I.

How are you faring, Lady Catelyn?

"If rulers can’t be senseless I wonder how the old man is still on the throne. Plus I wonder if he can still handle a sword. A lucky, yet sad woman. The reason she learned to use the knives was probably because of her abusive husband. Men probably are too afraid they might loose power if they would let us handle anything pointy. If war would last forever, there probably wouldn’t be much humans left on this planet"

image

"Between Rhaegar and Robert, I doubt he’ll be on the throne much longer. That I am not too sure of. Lucky and sad, seems like there was no winning. A good a reason as any to learn. I believe most men do fear that, yes. There are some good men out there who don’t. My brother always wished I could learn with him. Precisely. Men tend to compromise before they waste all that life. At least historically."

"If Robert put me in charge, I would have already won this war.  And there is some staff to help, but an annoying amount of the work of caring for baby Renly falls on me. I’m sure you understand, don’t you have a youger brother?"

"Yes, but Robert intends to be king. A king should be able to win his own war though it does seem rather obvious you’re the wiser brother. I do understand, I’m expected to play with Tyrion and keep him occupied far more than I would care to. It is our duty to look after our family though. Even if they act like fools and even if we’d rather not."

brandon-wildwolf:

My family have no desire to rule the Seven Kingdoms, and Robert may seem a controversial choice, yes, but he’s the exact opposite to the Targaryens which is exactly what Westeros needs. Nearly three hundred years of the same ruling family isn’t healthy. Besides, Robert Baratheon would never kill innocent children.

image

Robert is a controversial choice, there is no maybe about it. A drunk king is hardly better than a mad king.  He is the opposite of some Targaryens, yes. If you truly applied that logic, all the noble houses in Westeros would be overthrown by lesser ones. How long have the Starks held the North or the Tyrells the South? Neither would Rhaegar Targaryen. There is a reason he wants to take his father’s place as king. He cares about the realm.

I’ve been doing well thank you. The city is rather deserted as of late, and my lord husband is busy much more often than before, leaving me to myself, or with my younger son, more often than not.

image

Arthur is usually at my side. Jaime protects the King with Lord Commander Gerold Hightower most of the time.

That is good to hear. I imagine that must be rather nice, the time alone or with your son. I’m sure Viserys is happy for the time with you.

Rhaegar would be happy to know you have the best protecting you.
